Amadys started in 1987 as a self-help-group for patients with blepharospasm (AMB) by Prof. H. Bigorre. Only in 1997 it changed its name to Amadys and now also supports patients with all forms of dystonia. Chairman since 2003 is Claude Michon with a Board of 8 other elected members. The number of members is now over 2000. A Medical Advisory Board of 20 specialists supports Amadys. Brochures and a newsletter, published three times a year, are available for members.
