The
German Dystonia Society was founded in 1993 with Didi Jackson as Chairwoman
until 2003. The Board is supported by a Medical Advisory Board and the number
of members is now over 1500. 19 regional groups support members actively all
over the country. Brochures, leaflets for the different forms of dystonia and
a newsletter, which is published twice a year, are available for members. A
two day conference with scientific lectures as well as workshops for members
is organised each year. The ‘Oppenheim-Prize’ for papers on dystonia research
projects especially by young scientists in Germany is awarded every year.
